In Memoriam: Professor Emeritus Geoffrey V. Davis

It is with great regret that we announce the death of Professor Emeritus Geoffrey V. Davis, a valued member of GASt. He passed away on the 22^nd November, 2018. 

Professor Geoffrey Davis is known for his dedication to Indigenous Studies. As Chair of the ACLALS and a committed scholar of post-colonial literature he played a leading role in the field.  He was a remarkable scholar who encouraged young scholars, especially many Indigenous writers in India, New Zealand and elsewhere to participate and contribute to the current discussion in the field.

He is remembered as a respected academic, an admired mentor and a very generous person. We will miss his outstanding scholarship. Both the Centre for Australian Studies at the University of Cologne (CAS) and the Gesellschaft für Australienstudien (GASt) extend their condolences to his wife and family.
