The Centre for Australian Studies is deeply saddened to hear of the sudden passing of Dr. Cathy Bow.

Cathy has made great contributions to Indigenous communities in the Top End, working to support Indigenous people in the teaching and digital archiving of their languages. Her work enabled the expansion of these languages into the digital sphere, allowing prospective students to learn them online, under the leadership and guidance of the Indigenous people themselves, particularly in the establishment of an online Bininj Gun-wok course at Charles Darwin University. She was a colleague of Prof. Adone and always supported the work of Prof. Adone and the Yolngu team on alternate sign language.

We send our deepest condolences to her family and friends. Dr. Cathy Bow will be dearly missed.
