ABOUT
The Illustrated Handbook of Yolŋu Sign Language of North East Arnhem Land Project brings together some 500 signs of the highly endangered sign language YSL. The need to pass on YSL to Yolŋu children is bonded to the need to share YSL with all Australians. As we speak copies of the book are in the process of being distributed to the children of North East Arnhem Land Homelands and schools for free. A colour learner’s guide, grammar and dictionary it is a sumptuous work of art. If you would like to purchase one of these magnificent and rare books the proceeds go towards completing the project. Enormous interest in the book and small numbers mean less than 100 remain.
